When people think about superstar comic creators, they often think about writers who can keep a book going just off their name alone. However, even major writers like J. Michael Straczynski and Grant Morrison can't always keep a comic going. DC Comics history has plenty of comics by famous writers that were canceled even while they were still works in progress. Sometimes the writers in question were still coming into their own. On other occasions, DC was moving on to new publishing initiatives. In the worst scenarios, they were writing characters so unpopular that they canceled out the writer's popularity. As a result, DC's fans have missed out on some great untold stories. They gave the Legion of Super-Heroes a much-needed makeover with The Legion and raised the profile of the Guardians of the Galaxy. They were also responsible for the original Resurrection Man , a comic about a superhero who couldn't die permanently and gained a new power every time he came back to life. The original series ran 27 issues before coming to an end. However, DC decided to bring the series back during the New 52 era. Without the weirder comics of '90s era DC surrounding it, Resurrection Man stood out differently. It ran around thirteen issues before DC Comics pulled the plug. Threshold Keith Giffen Keith Giffen has been a key creator at DC Comics for years. He was responsible for Justice League International and the Legion of Super-Heroes , making him a vital creator throughout the '80s and '90s. With Threshold , Giffen was meant to develop the science fiction corner of the DC Universe. However, with no major like Green Lantern characters to pull people in, Threshold never quite found its footing. Though it was a good book, fans often need a character to latch onto to stick around.
