10 Worst Writing Decisions In Simpsons History

The Simpsons was once the crowning jewel of comedy television. Nowadays, however, most fans and critics regard it as a show long past its prime that has been underwhelming for many, many seasons. Most episodes of The Simpsons are bland but inoffensive, with most seasons having rare bursts of both exceptional and poor quality. The Simpsons episodes that are infamous among the fandom due to specific writing decisions that weaken the episode and ruin any part of it that might work. Some of these are beyond-the-pale actions from characters, others are poor plot choices, and others are jokes entirely lacking in good taste. Rewriting Simpsons History Season 19, Episode 11, “That ’90s Show” Flashback episodes are nothing new to The Simpsons . However, the best ones don’t draw too much attention to the series’ fluid timeline. “That ’90s Show” is an episode loathed for its very premise. It shows Homer and Marge’s past during the 1990s, years before the birth of Bart and Lisa. The Simpsons ‘ refusal to move its timeline forward is contentious enough with fans. However, the retconning of eleven seasons of The Simpsons brings this issue out into the open. The fact that it is just used to explore common ’90s tropes, such as Homer founding a grunge band, doesn’t help matters.

Suicide Jokes Season 18, Episode 18, “The Boys Of Bummer” The Simpsons has never been afraid of dark humor, but it’s usually found the heart in dark situations and created something both entertaining and fulfilling out of it. However, “The Boys of Bummer” is infamous for its lack of good taste. After fumbling a Little League basketball game, Bart is tormented by Springfield’s residents to the point of a breakdown. “The Boys of Bummer” sees Bart climbing a water tower to spray paint it.
