Since its inception in the early 20th century, the anime medium has undergone massive growth. Japanese animation is currently one of the most popular art forms in the entire world, and with franchises like Dragon Ball , Naruto , and One Piece spanning multiple decades, it’s clear that anime won’t be going anywhere soon. The anime medium only reached its current state because of numerous series that challenged its tropes and conventions, opening the audience’s eyes to its countless possibilities. Thanks to these groundbreaking writing decisions, the state of modern Japanese animation was changed forever.
