The heart of Paris, 15 Place Vendôme, the Ritz Hotel-one of the most prestigious and luxurious addresses in all the world. After all, the popular catch phrases “Ritzy” and “Putting on the Ritz” were born here. Originally an eighteenth century mansion surrounded by relatively low, older buildings, it is a rarity in Paris to have wonderful views in all directions; the Vendôme column to the East and west, the Garnier Opera to the North, and the French Garden of the Ministry of Justice to the South. Silence, light, trees, birds, and the rooftops of Paris in springtime.
André always stayed at the Ritz when visiting Paris. Born in Nice, he had come to Paris as a young hairstylist apprentice at a chic Paris salon at a mere fifteen years of age. Ten years later, on a visit to Los Angeles he fell in love with the city and decided to make southern California his new home. André signature, carefree hairstyles caught on like wildfire and he quickly became the de riguer for an entire generation. His celebrity client’s opened the door to the who’s who of Hollywood.
