Thriller and suspense are both genres of fiction that focus on creating tension and excitement for the reader. However, they have some key differences.

Thrillers often feature fast-paced action, high stakes, and a clear-cut villain. Notable thriller authors include James Patterson, Lee Child, and John Grisham. Their writing style often includes short chapters, multiple points of view, and a strong sense of pacing.

On the other hand, Suspense is more focused on creating a sense of unease and uncertainty. Notable suspense authors include Gillian Flynn, Tana French, and Paula Hawkins. Their writing style often consists of a slow build-up of tension, complex characters, and a sense of impending doom.

Here are ten methods to be a successful writer in the thriller and suspense genres:

1 Create a strong and compelling protagonist
2 Build a believable and relatable villain
3 Establish high stakes for the protagonist and the story as a whole
4 Use pacing to keep the reader on the edge of their seat
5 Create twists and turns to keep the story unpredictable
6 Use descriptive and evocative language to create a sense of atmosphere
7 Develop a unique and engaging plot
8 Use multiple points of view to keep the reader guessing
9 Create a sense of tension and suspense throughout the story
10 Use a strong and satisfying ending to tie everything together.

He/Him

When I first started writing, I was looking for a place to get feedback on my work. I wanted to find a community of writers who could help me improve my craft. But I quickly became frustrated with the sites I found. You know the ones that were either too superficial or too harsh.

I saw a need for a different kind of writing critique site. One that was based on mutual respect.

So I created Writer’s Critique. It’s a place where writers can meet other writers, collaborate, and get feedback on their work. It’s also a place where you can learn from editors, publishers, and other experts in the field.

No gimmicks. No karma points. Just write.
