Haiku is a traditional Japanese poetry consisting of 17 syllables divided into three lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. Notable haiku poets include Matsuo Basho, Yosa Buson, and Kobayashi Issa. Basho is considered the most famous haiku poet and is known for his use of imagery and his focus on nature. Buson is known for his use of humor and ability to convey a sense of movement in his haiku. Issa is known for his simple yet profound haiku that often conveys a sense of loneliness or longing.

To be a successful haiku poet, one can practice the following methods:

1 I’d like you to please study the works of established haiku poets to learn about the form and style of haiku.
2 Practice writing haiku regularly to improve your skills.
3 Read widely to expand your vocabulary and expose you to different perspectives.
4 Spend natural time observing the world and finding inspiration for your haiku.
5 You can use sensory language to convey your haiku’s sights, sounds, and feelings.
6 Please edit your haiku to ensure they are concise and convey a clear image or emotion.
7 Could you give me feedback on your haiku from other poets or writing groups?
8 Try writing in different seasons and moods to explore the different aspects of nature.
9 Experiment with themes such as love, loss, or nature.
10 Practice mindfulness and meditation to help with focus and inspiration.

He/Him

When I first started writing, I was looking for a place to get feedback on my work. I wanted to find a community of writers who could help me improve my craft. But I quickly became frustrated with the sites I found. You know the ones that were either too superficial or too harsh.

I saw a need for a different kind of writing critique site. One that was based on mutual respect.

So I created Writer’s Critique. It’s a place where writers can meet other writers, collaborate, and get feedback on their work. It’s also a place where you can learn from editors, publishers, and other experts in the field.

No gimmicks. No karma points. Just write.
