The Amazing Spider-Man continues to be one of the most well-known titles ever released by Marvel Comics , centered around the adventures of Peter Parker and his eponymous alter-ego. The series, which began publication in 1963, has been consistently popular since its inception, with almost no publishing breaks in its 60-year run. Some of these writers stuck around for the long haul, writing the longest runs in the title’s celebrated history. Marv Wolfman 1978-1980 Legendary comic writer Marv Wolfman, known for DC’s seminal Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline, took over writing duties on The Amazing Spider-Man in 1978, which he would retain until 1980. During that time, Wolfman scripted just over 20 issues between #182 and #204. Wolfman’s run was perhaps not the most memorable in the history of The Amazing Spider-Man , but did introduce several new characters to Marvel canon including Felicia Hardy, a.k.a. the Black Cat, one of Marvel Comics’ greatest thieves of all time and one of Spider-Man’s most popular love interests. Len Wein 1975-1978 Known for his major contributions to Marvel’s X-Men lineup, including co-creating the iconic character of Wolverine, Len Wein also worked on The Amazing Spider-Man for about three years. Serving as the title’s main writer from 1975 to 1978, Wein was responsible for creating the eponymous superhero’s adventures found in issues #151-180.
