Two local writers pen new books

Picture are Lelia Moskowitz, author of “Growland,” and Kathy Wollenberg, author of “Far Less.” (Photo by Janine Volkmar) Lelia Moskowitz, author of “Growland,” and Kathy Wollenberg, author of “Far Less,” have been part of a writing group since 2003, and both wrote novels published by The Press at Cal Poly Humboldt in 2020 just as the pandemic hit. The hunker-down mode didn’t bode well for two debut authors trying to get the word out about their work. Yet, ironically, what made their novels relevant, and reflective, of Humboldt County’s local culture makes them even more relevant today. Moskowitz and Wollenberg will have their first book launch event at Septentrio Winery, 650 Sixth St., Arcata, on Oct. 1 starting at 4 p.m. The authors will read from their books, answer questions and sign books.
