Memories of childhood, thoughts of people loved lifetime experiences, unforgettable happenings. Most of us want to preserve these thoughts because they are precious to us as we age. We hope our children and grandchildren will read the stories we write and want to know more about what we did and the legacy we leave, and who we were with them. These are the goals of the Learning in Retirement Writers’ Club. None of the members are professional writers; some may feel they could be better writers. But they all have memories they want to write on paper and share with others. This is the fun of the Writers’ Club. Sharing, laughing, maybe shedding a few tears, but mostly enjoying reading what is written, hearing responses to that writing, and listening to other writers’ stories. At one time, the writers’ group was called the Creative Writer’s Society, but a few years ago, it renamed itself Writers’ Club. They felt the original title was a bit too formal and probably scared writers away who were slightly unsure about their writing ability. Now, the group needs to critique each other’s writing.
